Translation

- If you need to focus on accuracy, consider a literal translation.

- If you need to prioritize natural flow over exact wording, consider a free translation.

- If you need to focus on a specific subject area, consider a specialized translation.

- If you need to focus on creativity to adapt content to a target audience, consider a transcreation.

Making the right choice depends on your audience, purpose, and content type.

If you are seeking professional results, you need to work with professional translators who recognize these nuances.

Since we understand your content must resonate with your target audience, we provide precise and natural translations that move beyond changing individual words. Subtitling

irislanguageservices-foto-51

- As translators of audiovisual material, we lean on the visual context and the audio cues, to accurately convey the tone of what is spoken.

- Because the subtitles are synced to the original video and the text appears and vanishes as the characters talk, the translation must be easy to read at a glance and not distract from what's happening on the video.

- Subtitles must flow with the speed of the video. When we create subtitles, we must adhere to strict character limits (no more than 35-42) and a designated space. Needless to say, this requires linguists who can skillfully paraphrase what is being said on screen.

- While both captioning and subtitling involve displaying text on a screen, they have different purposes and include different content:

Subtitles are meant for viewers who can hear the audio but don't understand the language of the original video (interlingual subtitles) or rely on reading for clarity (intralingual). Therefore, only the spoken dialogue is translated.

Captions are meant primarily for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. In this case, we need to include not only the spoken dialogues but also non-verbal sounds, music and sound effects amongst others.

Following the appropriate captioning guidelines and rules is essential to ensure that videos are accessible to its audience.

- Short and feature films

- Corporate videos

- Tutorials

- Personal videos for social media

- Series

- And more!

- We craft synced, readable, and engaging subtitles from scratch.

- We translate and adapt subtitles from templates.

- We conform subtitles (we adapt an existing subtitle file to conform it to the video provided).

- We perform quality control to ensure readability, compliance with style guides, and accuracy.

- We create subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing (SDH).
